To say things have been different these last few years is an understatement. It has been a lot for everyone—and made us more likely to reflect on the positives. These days, when something happens that brings a smile to your face, you want to smile big. You don’t want to hide your smile or be self-conscious about your teeth.
When you look at your smile, are you happy with what you see? Our team at Cottonwood Dental Group wants you to gain your confidence back in order to smile your biggest, brightest smile this year.
Improve Your Dental Health
While we are here to help you to get your smile back, there are also things you can be doing at home to help improve your dental health and your smile:
First, you want to make sure you floss every day. Make it a point not to skip a day, as flossing plays an extremely important role in your overall dental health.
Flossing helps to reduce your risk of tooth decay and gum disease since dental floss allows you to get in between your teeth, where a toothbrush can’t go. Plus, flossing can help to make your breath smell fresher, which is an added bonus.
Second, you want to brush your teeth for at least two minutes every morning and evening. With everything in our life being “go, go, go,” it can be easy to just brush really quick, spit, rinse and go about your day.
Instead, you need to make certain you are brushing your teeth for at least two minutes. If you’re using a manual toothbrush that doesn’t have a timer, watch the clock instead.
Finally, it is important to make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day. A dry mouth can increase your risk of cavities. Therefore, try to drink water consistently in order to make sure your mouth is producing enough saliva to rid your teeth of bacteria.
Skipping acidic drinks like cokes and sports drinks can also help improve your dental health, as the acid can wear away the enamel on your teeth.
