At Cottonwood Dental Group, Our Dentistry Technology is State-of-the-Art

State-of-the-art-equipment. Our Highlands Ranch office uses state-of-the-art dental equipment and techniques to increase effectiveness. These include:

  • Image FX Digital Imaging Software: This allows Dr's DeLapp to take an image of your smile and show you smile improvement possibilities. Whether you are interested in changing the size, shape, or brightness of your smile, this imaging software can help you to visualize the possibilities.
  • Intra-oral Camera: An intra-oral camera allows Dr's DeLapp to examine your teeth up close and personal, looking for fractures, broken filings or cavities. It allows you to see what the doctors see, and it is invaluable as a teaching tool.
  • Dexis Digital X-rays: These allow the doctors to use lower amounts of exposure compared to traditional film dental x-rays. We still maintain the ability to use traditional film when the situations arise, but these new technologies allow us to examine the health of your teeth and supporting bone structure in a safer and more advanced way!
  • DIAGNOdent® Dental Cavity Detector: This allows the doctors to use the diagnostic power of a laser to determine if teeth have dental decay on the chewing surfaces of the tooth. This, combined with the other traditional systems, allows us to detect decay when it is considerably easier to repair. This results in easier, faster, and hopefully more comfortable dental treatment for patients.

At Cottonwood Dental Group We Are Committed to Excellence - Not Volume

Dentistry does not have to be a commodity. We are not a PPO, DMO, or other high-volume dental enterprise. Our office does not subscribe to many of the current concepts that managed health care programs promote. If cost is your only concern, while we truly respect this, ours is not the practice for you. We understand that many patients are more than happy to have dental care delivered in a clinic setting, but our practice is different. We do not view you or the services we provide to you as a commodity! What does this mean? We will strive to provide you with truly individualized services in a low-volume, personalized manner. You will feel comfortable and informed every time you meet with a Cottonwood Dental Group dentist as ours is a practice committed to excellence and individualized patient care.

Dr's. DeLapp Take the Time to Thoroughly Consult With You

This is the hallmark of our practice. After determining your relative dental health, Dr. James DeLapp or Dr. Candace DeLapp will discuss with you ways to reach your dental health goals. For some patients, diagnosis is the first and only step for treatment. For others, a complete smile makeover by Dr's DeLapp is considered. Again, we do what you want to do. We empower our patients to become involved in this process, and we respect their treatment wishes. At this appointment the doctors will review your dental health with the aid of digital photographs – both intra and extra-oral – as well as digital and traditional radiographs. Both you and the dentist will determine what needs to be done, when it should be done, and how much you can afford. After you and the doctors are armed with this information, we can proceed forward as you choose. Being armed with information is key because, even if you decide against receiving treatment, you will have a complete diagnosis that will allow you to move forward and make informed decisions. If situations change in your life, you can choose to start dental or cosmetic treatment when you are ready.

Dr. Candace DeLapp is also a well-respected and experienced practitioner with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry. She has been practicing in her home community of Centennial for 12 years. Dr. DeLapp began her dental career in a most unusual fashion. After high school Candace did not have the opportunity to attend college and started working at the University of Colorado Heath Science Center as a clerk-typist. Nineteen years, much work, and several promotions later, she was an Administrative Officer in the Department of Neurology and was in charge of grants and budgets. She was one of several investigators in the study entitled "Long-Term Results Following Prednisone and Thymectomy in Myasthenia Gravis," which was published in the journal Neurology. Her other publications involving neurology practice patterns also appeared in Neurology. Going to school at night and on weekends, Dr. DeLapp undertook a pre-dental curriculum and is one of the few to be admitted to a professional school without an undergraduate degree. While in school she was President of her class for four years and participated in many committees at the University.

After dental school, Dr. DeLapp was elected President of the University of Colorado Dental School Alumni Association. She has been named to the Deans Advisory Council at the School of Dentistry, is on the Board of Trustees for the Dental School, and has established several dental study clubs in the metro area. Dr. DeLapp is currently a Clinical Instructor at the University of Colorado School of Dentistry. Currently, she is teaching Operative Dentistry I and II and Removable Prosthetics at the School of Dentistry on a part-time basis. This is the course where dental students learn how to drill and fill teeth; dentists call this "restoring teeth."

Dr. DeLapp maintains membership in the American Dental Association, Colorado Dental Association, Metropolitan Denver Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. As an advocate for continuing education, she attends many dental continuing education courses, including those at the nationally recognized Las Vegas Institute.

Dr. Candace DeLapp also enjoys giving back to the community as a volunteer. In addition to her volunteer work at the dental school, Dr. DeLapp is a Nationally Certified Official for USA Swimming. She also spends hundreds of volunteer hours helping our community through various charitable organizations. Her other outside interests include fly-fishing, gardening, and collecting antiques. The DeLapps' daughter, Sarah, is a biology major at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she has been awarded a scholarship for her contributions to the university swim team. Candace graduated from Colorado State University and is currently attending dental school at the University of Colorado.
