Volunteerism has been an important element for these Highlands Ranch dentists and they encourage others to follow in their footsteps. The message is… donating money to any particular cause is important but… we should not forget that donating “time” is also very important. Most of us have lives that are full but all of us should consider making time to give back to the community we live in.

As an example the areas where the doctors have given their time include

  • USA Swimming
  • Colorado Swimming Inc.
  • ACES Swim Club
  • University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine
  • University of Colorado Dental School Alumni Association
  • Colorado Dental Association Peer Review
  • Atlantis Community
  • Kids in Need of Dentistry (KIND)
  • Colorado Foundation for the Handicapped
  • Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity
  • Inner City Health
  • Pierre Fauchard Academy

What areas are you interested in? What could you give back to the community? The Dr.’s DeLapp donate around 1000 hours per year. We all can do something. Both doctors encourage everyone to take the time to give back to our community.  There are so many no-profit, community, or sports organizations that can use your help and donations.  Please consider what you might be able to give back to the community and call today.

Highlands Ranch dentists, Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp, are committed to improving the services offered to their patients and feel education and continuing education are the vehicles for this purpose. Both doctors teach part-time at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Restorative Dentistry.  This includes course work in dental filling (operative dentistry), crowns, bridges and dental veneers (fixed prostodontics) as well as dental implants, dentures and partial dentures (removable prostodontics). Their practice serves dental patients in Parker, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Douglas County, Ken Caryl and the Denver area.

Recently, our Highlands Ranch dentists sponsored a dental continuing education course at their office in conjunction with Las Vegas Esthetics Dental Laboratory. The course provided hands on practice on how to stain and colorize porcelain restorations and give the crown a life-like appearance.  The projects included how to make crowns blend into the natural teeth by applying stains and porcelain glazes. In addition, the course involved adding small increments of porcelain to interproximal contacts of teeth.

This course is but one of the many courses that the Dr’s DeLapp attend and teach in a year. The Colorado Dental Association encourages its member to have 30 hours of continuing education in a calander year.  The doctors as of October have 10 times the suggested amount of continuing education.

Highlands Ranch dentist commited to excellence not volume, Denver Dentistry

Posted under: Cosmetic Dentistry, Highlands Ranch Dentist — Dr. James DeLapp @ 9:48 am

At Cottonwood Dental Group We Are Committed to Excellence – Not Volume

If cost is your “main” concern that trumps other considerations our Highlands Ranch dental office may “not” be the practice for you. We understand and appreciate that many patients are more than happy to have dental care delivered in a HMO c setting, but our practice is different. It is ultimately what you are most confortable with. We prefer to have a reception room as opposed to a “waiting room”.  Our doctors are not running from room to room with multiple procedures in progress. Our doctors see patients from Castle Pines, Line Tree, Douglas County, Ken Caryl, Parker, Greenwood Village and Denver Colorado

Dentistry need not be a commodity

We do not view you or dentistry we provide to you as a commodity like corn, wheat or televisions. What does this mean? We will strive to provide you with truly individualized dental services in a low-volume, personalized manner. We strive to have you feel comfortable and informed every time you meet with our Highlands Ranch dentist ours is a practice committed to excellence and individualized patient care.

Dr’s. DeLapp talk to you about your options… your alternatives at your dental consultation.

Our Highlands Ranch dentist’s consultation is the hallmark of our practice. After evaluating your mouth, our Highlands Ranch dentist, Dr. James DeLapp or Dr. Candace DeLapp, will discuss with you ways to reach your dental health goals.

For many patients, diagnosis is the first and only step for treatment. For others, a complete smile makeover by Dr’s DeLapp is an option you may or may not decide on. Again, our philosophy is ….we do what you want to do. We empower our patients to become involved in this process, and we respect their treatment wishes. At your first dental appointment, the doctors will evaluate and record your dental health with the aid of Dental digital photographs – both intra and extra-oral – as well as digital and traditional radiographs. Both you and the Dr. James DeLapp or Dr. H. Candace DeLapp will determine what you “want” to have done, when it should be done, and how much you can afford. After you and the doctors are armed with this information, we can proceed forward as you choose. Being armed with information is key because, even if you decide against receiving treatment, you will have a complete diagnosis that will allow you to move forward and make informed decisions.

Maximize Dental aesthetic with bonded crowns in Highlands Ranch and Denver Dentistry

Posted under: Cosmetic Dentistry, Highlands Ranch Dentist — Dr. James DeLapp @ 9:43 am

Maximizing dental aesthetics and preservation of tooth structure with bonded dental crowns in Highlands Ranch dentist, Denver Dentistry.

Dental crowns have been a very common procedure in dentistry since before the Civil War. In order for a crown to stay on (retention) it needs to have a certain height of the walls of the preparation in order to cement to. Technologies in the 1980’s only involved porcelain fused to a metal substructure. While this technique is still popular today, obtaining an acceptable esthetic outcome involves placing the margins of the crown below the gum tissue. Highlands Ranch Dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp use all porcelain crowns in many but not all instances. Their dental office also serves dental patients in the Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Parker, Greenwood Village and the Denver area. Anytime we place a margin of a restoration below the gums for functional or esthetic reasons we invite other problems. These include but are not limited to:

  • Difficulty in cleaning the interface between the crown and the tooth
  • Extreme difficulty in accessing the fit of the crown under the gum
  • “Bluish” gums
  • Swollen gum
  • Bleeding gums
  • Decay in and around the margin of the tooth
  • Other problems
