Highlands Ranch and Denver Dentists
Dr. Sarah Parsons has joined the Denver dental practice of Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp. Dr. Parsons graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine in June 2010. Dr. Parsons is currently accepting new patients at our Highlands Ranch and Denver dental office. Dr Parsons recently completed 48 hours of training for “minimal sedation”permit issued from the Colorado State Board of Dental Examiners. The State of Colorado requires only 16 hours and her training exceeded the minimum standard by over three times. Call our Denver dental office and make an appointment today to see if sedation dentistry is for you.
Denver and Highlands Ranch dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp have attended or taught several hundreds of continuing education courses so far this year. The doctors attended the 26th Annual Scientific Session the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD). Other recent courses included additional courses in cosmetic dentistry, root canals, Advanced Cardiac life Support and “Minimal” and “Moderate Sedation” course work. All of these courses were fantastic. One of our favorite course was taught by Corky Wilhite DDS. Transitional bonding refers to a concept in cosmetic dentistry where a semi-final or transitional solution if presented to the patient. Porcelain Dental Veneers are the ultimate indental esthetic in Denver but composite direct veneers are an alternative to the porcelain dental veneer solution. The advantage of this transitional therapy is costs are approximately 1/2 of laboratory fabricated porcelain dental veneers. In time… the patient may wish to “transition ” into porcelain vereers. In addition Dr. James DeLapp attended a 10 day Moderate Sedation course at the University of Southern California School of Dentistry from April to July. He will apply with the State Board for a Moderate Dental Sedation permit. Currently all three doctors have a Minimal Dental Sedation permit from the State Board.
Digital dental x-rays(radiographs) are becoming the standard of care in dentistry. Our Highlands Ranch dentists Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp have had digital radiography for the past ten (10) years. One of the most significant benefits is the reduction in the amount of radiation the patient(and staff) experiences. It therefore also is less exposure for their staff. One of the many “other” benefits is the ability to send the dental digital image over the Internet. These can be viewed by insurance companies or specialist offering a second opinion.

Delta Dental Premiere Dental Insurance 2010
There are a number of dental insurancecompanies that y ou can choose from. “Some” require you to see a specific number of dentists and will provide “no” benefits is you choose someone else. At this time these are a minority of companies. Many more allow you to choose “any” dentist “but” may reimburse you at a lower level. Denver Dental Dental Premiere Plan is the only dental plan our Denver Dentists participate in. The office does not participate in the HMO, EPO, or DMO plans offered by Delta Dental of Colorado or any other plan. Please check with your benefits officer on what plans you company covers.

Immediate Dentures Highlands Ranch
What are immediate dentures- Highlands Ranch Dental patients?
Dr. James DeLapp and Dr. H. Candace DeLapp, Highlands Ranch Dentists, provide dental care for their Highlands Ranch Dental patients and dental patients living in Parker, Lone Tree, Castle Pines, Ken Caryl and the Greater Denver area.

An immediate denture is when our Highlands Ranch dentists have your remaining teeth extracted and a denture in placed immediately over the extraction sites. You leave our Highlands Ranch Dental office with “teeth” (dentures in place).
Around three months later a second complete denture is fabricated from scratch. There are two reasons why we do this
- First… the tissue shrinks and the denture becomes loose
- Second… we can control the esthetics of the denture to a greater degree

Cost of an immediate denture- Highlands Ranch Dentists… Dr’s James and Candace DeLapp
What patients present with is considerably variable and to state one fee or even a set of fees would be misleading at best. The fees presented for an immediate denture are just to give you a “ballpark figure” of cases and each case and patient is unique unto himself or herself. Obviously, these are routine cases, moderate and complex cases and each has its own level of complexity and corresponding costs. At Cottonwood Dental Group P.C. Highlands Ranch Dentists …we customaries your care and the “complementary cosmetic consultation” can give you at least an “idea” of where to start. So

Advantages of Dental Implants for patients in Highlands Ranch

There are many advantages of dental implants, which include but are not limited to:
- Dental Implants replace a single missing tooth without drilling or crown and bridge placement on teeth on either side of the missing tooth.
- Two or more dental implants may be placed to give tooth coverage over a broader area where a fixed bridge or removable partial denture exists.
- If your are missing “all” your teeth dental implant options may include:
- Place two implants in the lower jaw for better retention of a lower denture
- Place four to 6 dental implants and a bar placed between them makes a removable denture have greater resistance and retention
Place a “mouth full” of dental implants and non-removable bridges and crowns can be placed over the implants. This can give the look and feel of a mouth full of teeth!

Costs of Dental Implants
Costs of Dental Implants for a single tooth can run “around” $4,500.00 per tooth (circa 2007) and in full mouth cases can range from $30,000.00 up to the price (or exceed) the cost of a condominium. Of course this depends on the requirements of the case, some need more implants… some less. A few patients are not candidates for implants while other patients need some type of modification. The vast majority of patients are in this “routine” situation.

For Highlands Ranch Dental patients who are missing their upper and lower teeth full dentures may be your answer. Dr. James DeLapp and Dr H. Candace DeLapp are Highlands Ranch Cosmetic Dentists serving the Lone Tree, Centennial, Castle Pines, Englewood and the Greater Denver area. Dentures may be one of several options available. As a general rule, lower dentures are more complex to do that upper full dentures and much more difficult to wear than upper dentures.

Bacteria causes tooth decay
Bacteria in your mouth contain several different species of bacteria with many being beneficial for the mouth. Dentists call this the bacterial flora of the mouth. If the mouth becomes free from bacteria, yeasts and fungi can overtake your mouth and can cause dental discomfort and dental problems. Streptococcus mutans (a species of bacteria) causes the most of the damage. It produces acid after it attaches to your teeth in the form of plaque. It is these acids that cause the demineralization that eventually leads to decay (cavities).

Cosmetic Dentures what are they?
Many patients who require dentures are interested in the cosmetic options that dentures can provide. These options include:
The ability to choose their ideal tooth shade… some whiter… rarely darker.
-
You can choose a variety of shapes of teeth. Some shapes are flat… others rounded… oval… etc.
-
We have the ability to position the teeth in the arch to give an enhanced effect.
-
In patients who have old worn out dentures we have the ability to “open the bite” (to a point) which can decrease “wrinkles and folds that make us look prematurely older.
-
For some patients, we can fill out your lips that can decrease the effect of sunken cheeks.
